A World-Class Degree. A Shorter Study Path. Global Possibilities.

Thinking about studying in the UK?

For Indian students, the UK combines globally respected education with shorter degree durations, diverse course choices and international exposure.

Many bachelor’s degrees take around 3 years, while many master’s programmes can be completed in just 1 year — helping students save time and potentially reduce the overall cost of studying abroad.

At Agastya Global, we help you look beyond university names and rankings to answer the question that really matters:

Is studying in the UK the right choice for your profile, budget and career plans?

Top UK Universities

Why Consider the UK?

Forget the generic “world-class education” pitch for a moment. These are the practical reasons why the UK may make sense for you.

Finish Your Degree Faster

Many UK master's degrees are completed in one year, compared with longer postgraduate programmes in several other destinations. That can mean lower living expenses and an earlier return to your career.

Degrees with International Recognition

The UK has a long-established higher education system, with universities offering qualifications across Business, Engineering, Computing, Healthcare, Law, Finance, Creative Arts and many other fields.

Work While You Study

Eligible students studying full-time at degree level or above can generally work up to 20 hours per week during term time and full-time during official vacations, subject to their visa conditions.

International Student Experience

Studying in the UK gives you the opportunity to learn alongside students from different nationalities and develop academic, professional and cross-cultural skills.

Options for Different Budgets

London is not your only choice. Universities across cities such as Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Coventry, Sheffield, Leicester and others can provide very different combinations of course availability and living costs.

Is the UK Right for You?

The UK could be a strong choice if you:

Think carefully if:

You are depending on part-time work to fund most of your education, because student work should supplement your budget rather than replace adequate financial planning.

You are choosing the UK only because of post-study work rights. Immigration rules can change, so your degree and career value should make sense independently.

You plan to take your spouse or children with you. Under current rules, dependents are restricted for most taught postgraduate students; generally, eligible postgraduate students must be on a PhD/doctorate or research-based higher degree, unless another permitted category applies.

How Much Does It Cost to Study in the UK?

This is one of the first questions every student and parent should ask.

According to the British Council, international undergraduate tuition can range roughly from £11,400 to £38,000 per year, while postgraduate fees can range from approximately £9,000 to £30,000 depending on the programme and institution.

Typical Living Costs

London: approximately £1,300–£1,400/month

Elsewhere in the UK: approximately £900–£1,300/month

Accommodation is usually the biggest variable.

Important: Living Cost vs Visa Funds

Your actual monthly budget and the amount required for your Student Visa are
not necessarily the same.

For current Student Visa financial evidence, the maintenance requirement is:

London: £1,529/month for up to 9 months

Outside London: £1,171/month for up to 9 months

Can I Study in the UK Without IELTS?

Sometimes — but don't choose a university based only on “No IELTS.”

IELTS is not the only possible way of demonstrating English ability.

Depending on the university, programme and your previous qualifications, English proficiency may be assessed through an approved English test, previous English-medium degree-level study or the university’s own assessment where permitted.

For degree-level study, a Higher Education Provider can in certain circumstances assess a student’s English ability itself.

Agastya Tip

Treat “MOI accepted” or “without IELTS” as an eligibility possibility, not a guarantee.

We check the requirement against your actual academic profile and chosen university before recommending a route.

Scholarships for Studying in the UK

Scholarship availability depends on your university, course, academic performance and eligibility.

Opportunities may include:

Instead of asking only:

“Do I get a scholarship?”Ask:

“What will my final cost be after scholarship?”

A £5,000 scholarship at one university does not automatically make it cheaper than another university with lower tuition and lower living costs.

That is the comparison we help you make.

Work During & After Your Studies

While Studying

For an eligible full-time degree-level course with an appropriate higher education sponsor, Student Visa conditions normally allow up to 20 hours of work per week during term time, with full-time work allowed during official vacations.

Part-time earnings should be viewed as additional support, not as the primary source for tuition and living expenses.

After Graduation

This is an important change students planning for 2027 onwards should know.

The Graduate Visa lasts:

2 years if an eligible application is made on or before 31 December 2026

18 months if an eligible application is made on or after 1 January 2027

3 years for eligible PhD or other doctoral graduates.

Students should therefore evaluate a UK degree for its academic quality, employability and long-term career value, rather than relying only on post-study visa duration.

You don't need 100 university options.

Before You Choose a UK University, Ask These 5 Questions

01
Does the course actually fit my career goal?

Do not select a university simply because its name is familiar.

02
What is my total cost, not just tuition?

Consider accommodation, food, transportation, visa costs, healthcare surcharge and day-to-day expenses.

03
Is London necessary for my course?

For some students it makes sense. For others, a university elsewhere in the UK may provide better overall value.

04
What are the actual entry and English requirements for my profile?

Requirements differ significantly between universities and programmes.

05
Would I still choose this course if visa rules changed?

If the answer is yes, you are probably evaluating the degree for the right reasons.

Not Sure Which UK University Fits Your Profile?

Google can give you hundreds of university names.

We help you narrow them down.

At Agastya Global, our role is not to push you toward the most popular university or the easiest admission.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the UK good for Indian students?

The UK can be a strong option for students looking for internationally recognised education, diverse programme choices and comparatively shorter degree durations. Whether it is right for you depends on your course, budget and career goals.

International tuition varies considerably. British Council guidance currently gives ranges of approximately £11,400–£38,000 for undergraduate programmes and £9,000–£30,000 for postgraduate programmes, with living expenses varying by location.

Eligible students on full-time degree-level programmes can generally work up to 20 hours per week during term time, subject to the conditions of their Student Visa.

Possibly. IELTS is not the only route to proving English proficiency. The accepted evidence depends on the university, programme and visa circumstances, and some higher education providers can assess English themselves for degree-level study.

For eligible bachelor’s/master’s graduates, the Graduate Route is 2 years for applications made through 31 December 2026 and 18 months for applications made from 1 January 2027. Eligible doctoral graduates continue to receive 3 years.
